5th of February – World Nutella Day

February 5 is World Nutella Day. It is most vividly celebrated, of course, in Italy. They bake a bunch of goodies using the famous pasta, smear it on bread and rolls, and, in general, worship in every way.

The brand "Nutella", known all over the world and super popular primarily among children, secured a place of honor on the list of world holidays almost immediately. American Sara Rosso, a blogger living in Italy, proposed to hold February 5, 2007, World Nutella Day. The initiative was taken up by millions of admirers of this delicious product.

What kind of product is this that has won and continues to win the hearts of millions of children, retaining popularity even when these children become adults?

Nutella is a chocolate-nut spread from Italy. The history of its appearance is interesting, and it begins in the post-war years in the Italian city of Alba. In 1946, pastry chef and bakery owner Pietro Ferrero began producing soft chocolate bars called Gianduja, named after one of the local carnival characters. The fact is that the import of cocoa to Italy in the first post-war years was limited. This prompted Pietro Ferrero to use a new ingredient in addition to cocoa butter, which became roasted, and ground hazelnuts, which grew in abundance in that region. The soft chocolate and nut bars were enjoyed by the local children and were in great demand.

In 2007, the first Nutella Day celebration took place in the homeland of the product in Italy. Since then, processions and concerts, flash mobs, celebrations, and tasting of all kinds of dishes using Nutella: cakes, pastries, rolls, cocktails, etc. have been organized around the world every year. The number of participants in the celebration of World Nutella Day is only growing. The holiday is held in many cities of the world, among which there is even the virtual city of Nutellaville, where you can read poems, recipes, and much more dedicated to Nutella.
