10th of December – World Football Day

Every year on December 10, the world is still informally, but traditionally celebrates World Football Day. Thus, the international community pays tribute to this sport, which for many millions is not just a game, but a lifestyle.

And, of course, on this day, in honor of the holiday, many football matches of various levels and scales are held. Historians found the first mention of football as “a ball game with their feet” in Chinese sources dating from the second millennium BC. The game was called Tsu Chiu, which means "pushing with the foot." The game of football allowed Chinese warriors to keep fit.

When this game first appeared, no one really knows. Some argue that the forerunner of football was the wild game of the Saxons who lived in England in the 8th century. On the battlefield, after the battles, they kicked off the severed heads of the enemy.

Very little is known about this game - that there were a goal and a goalkeeper, that the game was part of the physical training of soldiers, and that it was already known three thousand years ago. And the net at the football goal was first used in March 1891 during a match between the teams of the North and the South of England.

Football was played in both Ancient Greece and Rome about two and a half thousand years ago. In Greece, this game was called the "battle for the ball", from which we can assume that they played it accordingly - using all sorts of martial arts techniques.
