Body language of a woman: how does a woman in love behave?

When properly interpreted, a woman's body language can convey a lot of valuable information about her feelings, thoughts and opinions towards the interlocutor, even if they were not expressed directly in words. Gesture understanding also plays an important role in the art of seduction and flirting. This allows you to read intents and signals and even predict future behavior. Studies show that women's non-verbal speech is richer and more transparent than men's. It is she who is often the subconscious "green light" for a man and an invitation to action.

The thesis that women encourage men to flirt was confirmed in the 1980s by social psychologist Timothy Perper and anthropologist David Givens. Yes, this is a controversial theory. But back to the facts: scientists have spent 9,000 hours observing the behavior of women and men in American bars. The results were unequivocal: men decide to make contact only when - thanks to non-verbal communication - they can be sure that they will not be refused. As a result, men often complain that they misinterpreted the behavior of a woman and, on the basis of this, took the first steps.

Female body language - what is it?
Non-verbal communication is a direct reflection of thoughts and emotions. This is the effect of the interaction of external stimuli, internal experiences and thoughts. In the most general sense, the body language of a woman and a man shows whether a person feels comfortable and safe, whether he shows interest in the environment or is wary of it.

Body language signals and reactions occur at an unconscious level, so it is almost impossible to completely hide and play them. Male body language has similar characteristics. However, it happens that social taboos, nervousness or self-doubt disrupt this process and give conflicting signals. To some extent, one can also learn to control posture or gestures, which helps in conscious non-verbal communication. However, full control over facial expressions or micro gestures is not possible. Experts also point out that if you want to read non-verbal communication, you must consider the person as a whole. One signal can confirm or refute insecurity, flirtatiousness, or any other emotional state.

Body language of a woman interested in a man
Professor Monica Moore, a psychologist at St. Louis University, calculated that a woman sent up to 35 signals per hour, inviting a man to flirt. At the same time, the average man needs to read at least 12 of them to understand the woman's intentions. This means that a woman's body language can be misinterpreted or not seen at all.

What are the most common - conscious or not - female gestures indicating interest in a man and agreement to flirt? The most important ones are:

Straight silhouette facing a man. To be precise, this is a straight body and neck, arms laid back, open chest.

Eyes wide open, eyebrows slightly raised. This gesture is often taken as an expression of surprise, but if it lasts for a fraction of a second, it indicates an unconscious reaction to a promising acquaintance or meeting someone who seems interesting.

Slight opening of the lips. The phrase "dropped jaw" is often used to describe the behavior of a person who is impressed by someone or something. To some extent, this is what happens: the downward tilt of the chin and mouth expresses pleasant surprise.
Sincere smile. While it's hard to pinpoint, the human brain can tell the difference between a genuine smile and a fake one. This is because your facial muscles relax in a natural response.

Neck exposure. This is a gesture of a clearly seductive nature. It could be hair deflection or head tilt. The skin on the neck is strongly innervated, and the area itself is erotic.

Opening the inside of the wrists. This is a gesture similar to baring the neck. His goal is to show defenselessness and a desire to get to know each other better.
Hair play. This is a relatively common and often consciously used technique. This can be twisting the hair into strands, winding it around your fingers, or throwing the hair back.
Trembling eyelashes. Of course, it's not surprising that most cartoon characters do this: Psychologists say that the rapid movement of the eyelids is a sign of innocence and vulnerability that men suffer from.

Gestures and eye contact in general are of great importance. It is true that this is also one of the manifestations of trust in another person, but studies show that a close look at the interlocutor for more than a second is a signal of more interest in the person than in the subject that he is talking about. It is worth paying attention to the posture: crossing the legs is designed to focus the man's attention on the area of interest to him. This is one way to expose the originally covered part of the body.

Thus, everything indicates that a woman's body language during flirting is largely based on the assumption of interest, although we are well aware that flirting is primarily a brain. And gestures can be misinterpreted. An open neck and running your fingers along it may well be a sign of stress. How to recognize it? The probability of error is reduced if we assume that when a woman makes movements involuntarily and without eye contact, the behavior is likely to be involuntary and not related to flirting.

Body language of a woman in love
As emotional involvement grows, so does the catalog of gestures. The body language of a woman in love is different from the non-verbal communication used in pure flirting. The issue of physical distance between two people also plays a big role. The above gestures can become bolder and more explicit. The desire to be near often turns into a literal penetration into personal space.

When a woman clearly points to a man with her body and feet during a conversation, she expresses her interest in him. Legs often reveal hidden intentions: approach, run away, create a boundary. It is noticeable that the facial expressions and gestures of a girl or woman in love imitate what the object of affection does. Copying movements or frowns is unconscious and based on the action of mirror neurons. It is also important how the interlocutor reacts to touch and whether she initiates it more or less randomly. The search for physical contact, hugs or strokes is one of the evidence of falling in love caused by the need for intimacy. Thus, entering a man's personal space becomes a message expressing a desire to accept a part of it for himself.

Of course, these signals are not always unambiguous. There are people who have a natural inclination to touch the interlocutor. Then it is believed that they are more prone to flirting, even if this is not true.

Hair play
In all non-verbal communication, eyes and hair play are some of the easiest gestures to recognize, although they are also not free from interpretive errors. Much depends on how a woman plays with her hair and other related activities. So the answer to the question of what it means when a girl plays with her hair is not at all clear.

Some men react strongly to the way a woman twists a strand of hair around her fingers. This form of touch triggers a man's caring instinct. However, it is worth knowing that you can talk about signs of flirting when a woman looks at someone or looks into his eyes. When they are tense, nervous, and looking down, they are probably uncomfortable. If playing with hair by pulling strands or winding them around fingers occurs during a conversation and is combined with the avoidance of eye contact or the absence of a direct look, this most likely indicates boredom. Shaking the hair, on the other hand, is a reflex that aims to diffuse the fragrance and convey the subconscious desire for the man under the eyes to take on this role.

False Signals
The body language of women, like the body language of men, can also indicate courage and energy. Women who often make certain gestures can be seen as open-minded, uninhibited, flirtatious and successful, even if they are not actually true. An example would be holding a long eye-to-eye gaze. This is similar to the previously mentioned entry into someone's personal space, reciprocal exchange, or initiation of touch.
