April Fools' Day is an international holiday celebrated around the world on April 1st. On this day, it is customary to play pranks on relatives, friends and just acquaintances, or to make fun of them.
Where exactly this holiday comes from - from France, England, Mexico or Sweden - is a mystery, which, unfortunately, is shrouded in darkness. One of the influential versions about the origin of the holiday of laughter is associated with the fact that initially April 1 was celebrated in many countries as the day of the vernal equinox and the time of Easter. The festivities on the occasion of the spring new year have always been accompanied by jokes, pranks, and funny tricks. The tradition of the holiday lives on now: nature itself became the reason, because people tried to appease the spring moods of the weather with jokes and practical jokes.
Another, also widespread, version of the occurrence of April Fool's Day is associated with the transition to the Gregorian calendar, introduced by Pope Gregory in 1582. The fact is that the New Year in the Middle Ages was celebrated not on January 1, but at the end of March, before King Charles IX reformed the calendar in France in 1563-1564. Therefore, New Year's week began on March 25th and ended on April 1st.
In those distant times, it was also customary to have fun on New Year's holidays. But despite the changes in the calendar, some conservative (and perhaps just ignorant) people continued to celebrate New Year's week in the old style. Others laughed and made fun of them, gave them "stupid" gifts and called them April's Fools. This is how the so-called "April Fool's Day" arose.
In the 18th century, this cheerful holiday became widely known and popular. The British, Scots and French spread it in their American colonies. On April Fool's Day, it was customary to make fun of each other, as well as to give each other meaningless assignments, for example, to find and bring sweet vinegar.
April Fools' jokes are extremely varied and cover a wide range of both those who are joking and those who are being joked about. You may have good time with your lady on VeronikaLove Chat, but be aware that evil jokes are not good. Don't joke on something regarding your relationship, as this will not be funny but may break someone's heart. Be kind and make others smile!
