On November 24, 2004, the UN General Assembly proclaimed May 8 and 9 as the Days of remembrance and reconciliation.
Recognizing that states-members can have their Victory, Liberation, and Celebration Days, the UN invited all Member States, organizations of the United Nations system, non-governmental organizations, and individuals to annually celebrate one of these days or both of these as a tribute to all the victims of World War II.
The Assembly emphasized that this historic event created the conditions for the establishment of the United Nations, designed to rid future generations of the scourge of war, and called on UN member states to join forces in the fight against new challenges and to do everything possible to resolve all disputes by peaceful means and in such a way that endanger international peace and security.
These days, in countries affected by the horrors and pain of World War II, various commemorative events are held - ceremonial meetings, meetings with veterans and their celebration, historical military equipment, reconstruction of some battles and, of course, the laying of flowers and wreaths at the Eternal Flame and the tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
No matter what happens nowadays, the saving of peace is the top priority for everyone and each country and person. And the best way to prevent the repetition of history is to remember our past. Ladies from VeronikaLove have days off on the 8th and 9th of May. They spend time with their families in nature and visit their relatives. Ask her in Chat how your sweet lady is going to spend this holiday! Maybe she has lots of interesting things to tell you about this bright and sad holiday.
