Saint Nicolas Day is a very important holiday for catholic people. It praises one of saints who lived approximately in the 3rd century. He lived in the city of Myra and was its bishop. However, the Christians were followed greatly by the Emperor Constantine, and the bishop was put in jail for serving the God. He spent there 8 years but never stopped spreading the word of God to everyone who wanted to listen to it and to learn it. This person was protecting everyone, and rescued from death several people and even helped one poor lady to get married by giving her money.
The holiday was first celebrated approximately in the 10th century. To commemorate this saint, children in the church school received sweets.
